Plex Server not available on Mac or PC but fine in Android and Roku

Like the subject line says, my Plex Server appears and works perfectly in the Plex app on my Android phone and using my Roku Stick through whatever the name is of the player app Roku included.

However, on both my Mac and my PC, the Plex Player web interface declares my Plex server isn’t to be found. I’ve only modified the settings on my Plex Server (which is an old MacBook) to update immediately (rather than periodically) and to NOT be available outside my local LAN. I’ve assigned that MacBook a static IP (outside the DHCP range). I can reach the web with the MacBook if I try so everything IP is okay.

Again: Android and Roku can reach the server perfectly but Mac (OSX 10.11.5) and PC (Windows 10) can’t Neither the Mac nor the PC have the Firewall turned on.

Ideas? Thanks!

Barry

Also tried using some of the free apps in Apple’s App Store; same results - no server can be found.

Additional testing: It’s not the Mac nor the PC that is the problem. It’s Plex. I changed the server to TVMobili and now -all- client devices (Android phone, iPad, Mac, PC, and Roku) can see and play all the videos without any issue.

I will note, however, that Windows Media Player on the PC worked as a client while I could never get VLC (on the PC) to see either server. VLC on the Mac had no trouble with the TVMobili server.

My time to fix any issues with Plex is worth more than the TVMobili $65 license fee.

See ya.
