It took what feels like forever, but I am now embarrassed
It needs to run in my browser. And what a sweet program
1 issue tho. Can I ask here?
Every time I add another HDD/folder of music i get another desk/folder(of the same name)
So now I have 8 desks/folders(Music)
The issue is to view or search all my music i need to do one “Music”/desk at a time
Is there a way to have one united view of everything across all the desks/folders?
I tried to create a new desk/folder named exactly the same as another desk/folder thinking that would unite them, but it did not. It just created another folder of the exact same name
Just these few issues are keeping me from buying the subscription, and I have a feeling there is a satisfying answer to them because it is a lauded program
It looks like this for instance on my server. I have 4 different root folders for different music file formats. Yet, since they are all added to the same Plex library, they appear as one big library within Plex.
to expand on what Otto posted, I think we need to clarify a few terms.
drive: A physical or logical disk partition holding data. On Windows these are drive letters. IE F:\
folder/directory: A path to where media is stored IE: F:\Music
Plex Library: A folder or group of folders that can be combined to create 1 repository of similar media (TV shows, movies or music)
In this case you created 8 Libraries instead of adding the folders to an existing library. Using the webUI (and other UI’s) it is possible to search across all libraries for a term. That search bar is the one in the top left. You can also use filters to search within a library.
What I 1st did was put many LPs onto a physical hard drive that was already in plex. What I was expecting was for plex to auto update any changes to its folders, but it did not,so I refreshed myself to no avail.
Only one of those many LPs showed up
Then I tried the other "add folder " method you mentioned, and then all that entire folder is gone
