Plex Server Not Loading / Showing Up

Server Version#: 4.87.2
Player Version#: ???

Hey Everyone … I am doing a new media server build for my house and I am running into some issues ..

I have a brand new install of windows 11 , I install plex media server and it shows up in system try but when you open it the “server” that is normally there is missing and all I see is account information ..

Also the one time it did work I tired to add my media folders .. which are network mapped drives and it will not add them ..

So not sure what I am doing wrong , as I had no issues on the old server ..

Thoughts ? ideas ?

I checked your account and I see you tried to setup 2 servers. 1 of them shows an IP that is a public IP address. PMS does not work when connected to a public IP address, it needs to be on a private network.

That is strange because both of the computers are located in the same place … only different between them is the local ip address … and I uncheck the button to allow outside access …

I use 172.168.40 for my ip ranges …

So I am not sure on how to fix this … Please let me know … Thanks …

There you have it. That is not in a private IP range.

Thanks OttoKerner,

But I don’t think that is the issue … I only started having issues once I tried to add the new media server to my account … the old media server work fine for years with no issues …

Also I am pretty sure 172.168.40 is a non routable ip address and is part of the private range people can use at home … Most people use 192.168.1 but I wanted something out of normal for safety reasons …

No, it is not. Please follow the link I’ve set above.

Yes, that is the issue. Claiming a server fails if it is using a routable IP address.

Well I am going to have to wait until tonight … As I work from home and cant reprogram my whole network to something else … Hope it will fix the issue just find it strange that everything has worked fine for years with no issues …
