Player Version#:not, I’m using Firefox
I’ve moved my Plex Server another computer and had no trouble with redoing my libraries.
My problem is that I’ve ripped some tv shows that go for a few seasons. Mostly 5. I have one that is 7 seasons and the Plex Server is only finding 6 seasons.
The folder structure is as follows:
Tv show
Season 1
Season 2
Season 3
Season 4
Season 5
Season 6
Season 7
I haven’t found a way of getting the files in season seven into the library. It can’t see the files anywhere.
Would you mind sharing the actual example of incl. some actual episode names?
Have you already checked inside Plex if there’s duplicate episodes (using the related filter)?
n:\TV Shows\On the Buses (1969-1973) Complete\Season 7
S07E01 Olives divorce.avi
S07E02 The perfect clippie.avi
S07E03 The ticket machine.avi
There are fourteen files in all, named in the same way. All the files in the seven seasons are named this way. It library shows On The Buses as having six seasons instead of 7 seasons.
All the TV shows that I have are named the same way. S01E01, S01E02 etc in a folder called Season 1. S02E01, S02E02 etc in a folder called Season 2.
I have 10 different tv shows in my TV Shows library and all show with one entry indicating the number is seasons in that show. There are seven seasons of On The Buses, but it only indicates that there are six seasons.
All files and folder structure are the same for every tv show.
move the top-level folder On the Buses (1969-1973) Complete outside the folder linked to your tv-show library
perform ⋮ > Scan Library Files for the tv-show library within Plex
next, click ⋮ > Manage Library > Empty Trash
clean-up your file structure/naming
show folder’s name should be On the Buses (1969)
episode files should include the show name as their prefix, e.g. On the Buses (1969) - s07e01 - Olives Divorce.avi – preferably apply that to all episodes, you should be able to “simply” copy&paste the leading part to each file name
return the show folder into the folder linked to your library
review the logging options in Settings > [Server Name] > General have debug logging enabled but verbose logging disabled
perform ⋮ > Scan Library Files for the tv-show library within Plex for Plex to re-add the files
Your naming isn’t totally off – just trying to get rid of potential caveats that might cause this hiccup. If season 7 is still not showing alongside with the other seasons we can take a look at your server logs to further investigate.
I seem to have solved the problem. I turned the server and shut down the windows Plex app, moved the files out. Then I ran the server and the app for 5 minutes and then shut them down. Then I moved the files back to where I had them.
Now they are showing up and displaying the way they should be.
I think I will do what you’ve suggested anyway as I just found some other tv shows in a library that I’ve called documentaries that are behaving in the same way.
I’ll fix those files the way you have suggested as it seems alot easier than the way I did it.
