Plex client not seeing server on MacOS
Help? I did a fresh install of PMS and Plex app on MacOS 10.13. Both install fine, and I am able to launch Plex server. But when I try to open PMS from menu bar on the same system it’s installed on, all that loads in the browser in the “PLEX” logo in the middle of the screen. If I launch app directly from Apps folder, it opens app but I get the gray app background and an orange spinner that spins forever then eventually app closes. I have a different instance of Plex on another Mac on the network that I do not use (was trying Plex out and then decided to install on the other machine). However I cannot seem to access that server from the new machine either. Thanks for your help.
Open from the Browser using the following address and forget about the menu bar except for quitting the app if needed. Create a bookmark in a browser that not the default Browser, in my case Chrome which I have set up as VPN app exception along with Plex apps. For other online apps that are sensitive to Geo restrictions this set up makes sense. I have Plex as my homepage and launching Plex from the Chrome Icon in dock works well. https://app.plex.tv/desktop#
For playing content, I have found Plex for Mac desktop app a better solution for viewing content. Plex media server is my exclusive administration method, no content consumption here.
