Plex server other devices

Is there something small I can run Plex server on, at the moment I have it on my laptop. This is not working out for me as it means the laptop needs to be run all the time. I have an old NAS drive but this will not support Plex server, so what can I buy thats cheap and small?

Regards
Chris

Many users are trying to run Plex Server on a Raspberry Pi 4.
However, what you save there in money, you have to invest double in

  • learning Linux
  • pre-converting your media to avoid transcoding (as the hardware cannot do it)

The next best thing would be a nVidia Shield Pro. But I cannot recommend it for larger media collections. Only use this if it doesn’t hurt to re-intsall the server from time to time.

The most flexible is to use a mini PC, like an Intel NUC. Though that’s maybe small, but not exactly cheap.
