Has anyone else had problems with the May2025 server release causing problems? After installing I could not stream from my server on plex app on Roku tv. Rolled back to previous server version fixed problem for now
Which versions of the Plex Media Server and Roku apps are giving you that trouble?
Are you only experiencing this with the Roku app or is it the same on more/all clients?
Ple x server for windows 11.41.7 from May18. Trying to stream remotely to plex Roku app, getting error that transcoder had crashed. Plex media player on windows (also remote stream) worked fine.
They had broken something in one of the earlier betas and I had to downgrade to v1.41.6.9685. Since then I switched to only stable releases, and today updated to v1.41.7.9799.
Looks like they didn’t bother fixing the issue before releasing the stable branch. What on Earth is the point of betas if you don’t actually do anything about issues that come out of testing.
I can’t get logs or anything (because it’s not me) but I just had a tech savvy friend have their server damaged over the latest public update, released yesterday. The database got corrupted and his shared users were removed from his server.
Considering everything going on with Plex right now, I’m concerned they might have released the PMS public release too early. I guess I’m turning off updates until things hopefully straighten out.
I’ve got the same issue. Thought it was an issue with my Truenas server at first, but it followed to my asustor nas, and i setup a windows plex server to test, same issue. only happens with ROKU users. Need this addressed badly.
I recently complained about the Roku app transcoding here: Roku app Transcode Error for mp4s
There is a problem with PMS 1.41.7 builds transcoding TrueHD (and maybe other formats) to EAC3.
Plex Roku & LG clients are affected, as transcoding TrueHD to EAC3 is the default for those clients.
Plex devs are aware of the problem and working on a fix.
The workaround is to fall back to 1.41.6 or earlier. If running PMS on Windows, check the Updates folder in the Plex Data Folder. Plex keeps a limited number of prior installs in that location.
It is unknown when a fix will be available. You can subscribe to the Plex Media Server release thread to be notified of new releases. Scroll to the bottom of the thread and change Normal to Watching.
1.41.7.9823 still have problem

I can’t connect to my Windows server via the Roku app for love nor money. Have they foisted the New [and not Improved] Experience on Roku users as well?
Just super if so. ![]()
Yeah, my Roku TV can’t watch an entire show/movie without freezing and crashing for a couple minutes, then it comes back.
I haven’t downgraded server, but I basically just switched to Jellyfin until I can use Plex again
Glad to find others with the issue as well.
