After installing the latest Shield system update last night, my Plex server no longer starts. The client loads just fine on Shield (and elsewhere fwiw), but it says my server is offline and I’m unable to start it. Attempting to choose a server shows a message saying I need one with v1.3.0.0 or higher, and none are detected.
Virtually the same symptoms as outlined in the Observation section of this post.
When I try to select “On”, it says “Starting Server - Please wait while Plex Media Server starts”, spins for awhile, then gives up and remains “Off”.
After updating the Shield OS and encountering these issues, I updated Plex Server from v1.13.5.5332 to the version listed above and restarted; no dice. Ditto with signing out/in. I have debug logging disabled as recommended by this post.
Finally decided to upgrade shield to the latest (it’s been available for like two weeks). Result:
plex server offline
Then rebooted the shield and the server is still gone.
Went to find PMS in app store… It had an update… Okay… Updated… Still no server… Reboot doesnt help.
Turning PMS on in the settings in the shield plex app results in… nothing…
Frustrated as the same exact thing happened after the previous shield and/or PMS updates.
Great start to Christmas… Guess I’ll grab a book and NOT buy that plex pass lifetime I was planning to.
I have the same issue… I tried to uninstall, remove cache, reset data for Plex server app . It then starts the setup again but just keeps spinning at the message “Plex Media Server is starting for the first time, please wait…”
I have this same issue. Haven’t tried turning off debugging yet, but did clear PMS and Plex Player data, uninstall PMS updates, block google play updating PMS, and reboot as per another post … with no success.
This was a MAJOR reason for buying the Shield TV and now I have to revert everything back to a raspberry pi server while I wait for Plex or NVidia or both to figure themselves out - oh, and in trying this out, my external hard drive that I plugged into the Shield TV got corrupted in some way that required a Windows chkdsk /f and two reboots to correct before it would mount on the Pi again.
