PMS running but "offline"

PMS running on Nvidia Shield 7.2.1(30.6.129.32)

PMS shown as “running” in Plex client settings on Shield.
Plex Client running on Shield shows the server as “offline”. Client works via localhost.
Unable to access the server from Plex Clients running on other devices (ATV, web, iphone, etc). The server appears as “unavailable”.

I’ve been running this setup for over a year without a problem. I don’t normally use the Shield as a client (just as the PMS) but when the problem started I looked at the Shield for the first time in a while. It wanted an OS upgrade (which I did) and I also noticed the PMS was out of date, so updated it. I’m suffering from the same problem before and after the upgrades.

I’ve tried rebooting the Shield and restarting the PMS but no difference. I’m at a loss of what to try next. Any ideas?

Thanks for posting the other thread. While the system (Shield), PMS and Plex client are the same I believe my problem is different. The originator of the other thread talks about the server resetting and having the setup from fresh. I’m not experiencing that. My server appears to be running but can not be access by any client.

Updating for anyone else reading this experiencing the same problem. I ended up reinstalling the PMS (Google Play Store -> PMS -> Uninstall Updates, followed by installing updates). This meant setting up the server from scratch again and therefore losing all my playlists and information about what’s already been watched. Very frustrating.

It would have been great to have been able to backup the PMS config but looking through docs/forums it doesn’t appear to be possible on the Shield. Disappointing.

I specifically purchased a Shield as it was a recommended platform, by Plex, to run PMS. I was previously running PMS on a NAS that wasn’t powerful enough for the job, From recent reading it appears anyone running PMS on a Shield is going to face a myriad of problems.

It appears to be working for now but I’m seriously considering abandoning Plex and actively looking for a more reliable solution.
