Plex server remote access randomly not working?

Server Version#: 1.23.3.4707
Player Version#:
hey i’m pretty new at this, so sorry if i’m not doing anything right but im at my end with things im going crazy with this, so basically, i had a working plex server that had multiple people using it with remote access, randomly today without me changing anything my plex server has stopped working? i’m not exactly sure how to download a log file, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I am on a windows 10 desktop, use the desktop server, i have gone as far as to completely disable windows firewall, still didn’t fix it, i do have the ports forwarded on my modem and firewall previously and haven’t changed any setting to my knowledge. I did notice windows updated itself and i even went as far to remove those updates and still no change, basically turns green for a second than turns back off showing no internet connect, Any help would make my day, thank you all.

oh i have managed to find and download my logs

I also run PMS on a Windows 10 PC. And I am experiencing the same issue. Remote access initiates and then stops. I recently moved my PMS from an ASUSTOR NAS to Windows 10. When my PMS ran on the ASUSTOR NAS, remote access worked fine. The lack of remote access connection has occurred since I move my PMS to Windows 10 yesterday.

My internet provider is T-Mobile via their 5G Internet Home Gateway. There are no configurable parameters for port forwarding or firewall on the T-Mobile gateway device. It is very basic in its current iteration. But, PMS on the NAS did work with remote access through the T-Mobile Home Internet Gateway. Both the NAS and the Windows 10 PC running PMS are connected to a switch that is connected via an Ethernet cable to the T-Mobile Home Gateway router.

On my Windows 10 PMS I have both the Windows Defender firewall and anti-virus on. I tried turning both off and had no luck getting the PMS to enable remote access.

I really would like to get this solved as I enjoy the remote access capability of PMS and have lost it since moving platforms. What else should I look at.

I found this from a post outside of this forum. I applied the steps and it worked! I can access my PMS from outside my internal network!

Follow these steps:

a. Go to windows firewall

b. Advance settings

c. Go to outbound rules and add Plex Media Server and select any for everything

d. Go to inbound rules and add Plex Media server, select the C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Plex Media Server.exe and then for protocol add TCP, then repeat the same step and add a second C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Plex Media Server.exe and add UDP. For ports leave it as any for both.

e. Now turn on plex server and go to settings and Network tab and change Secure connections to Required, I’ve also disabled GDM on here but it’s up to you.

f. Now go to remote access and make sure manual port is not enabled and then enable remote access, now leave it on for a bit and test to see if now you have remote access. You might see it turn green and then red but it’ll change back to green in couple of hours. You might even be able to access it through plex.tv site or try a vpn or your cellphones data to access and see if it works.
