I keep having trouble with my Nvidia Shield and the Plex server.
The server has disappeared three times. The first time this happened the electricity went. The second time I tried moving the server back to the internal storage, because it was too slow on the external HDD. The third time I stopped the server to make a backup and left it stopped for the day. I go onto the Plex settings page and under Plex Media Server nothing is there, so I think it stops with no option to start it again.
The only way to get it working is by formatting the Shield or by clearing the Plex Media Server app data and setting up a new one. I’ve had the Shield for 8 months and everything worked perfectly before.
Another problem I’m having is when I go to the Plex web client and click on Manage, Libraries, it says Plex server settings are unavailable, but when I open the Plex app on the Shield I can manage my libraries as usual.
I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but the Shield IP address was always 192.168.0.46, when it stopped working I formatted the Shield and the IP address changed to 192.168.0.4. I’ve formatted it a few times and it’s still 192.168.0.4. I don’t know if that’s a normal IP address for a device.
Does anybody have any idea what might be happening with my server keep disappearing, and needing to open the Plex app to access my server settings?
