Plex Server wants to access everything in my Mac?

Hello everyone, while installing Plex Media Server on a Mac, at some point it requested access to “all apps” on my mac, or it wouldn’t load the media of the Media Folder I pointed the Library to.
The day after, I turn on the Mac and Plex asks me for access to iCloud Drive Folder, Reminders (?!) and “files on a network volume”?

How does Plex justify these requests? I’m not very confident in allowing them.

Thanks in advance guys

It does seem odd that it’s requesting that much access. Have you tried denying it that access and see if it works? I’d think it only needs access to files and folders or maybe full disk access. I could see “Files on a Network Volume” as well if you’re keeping your files on a NAS or something like that.

Where did you download Plex Media Server from? Here?

https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/?cat=computer&plat=macos

or somewhere else? It also would be helpful to know the version from Get Info on the app.

My PMS Servers are on legacy hardware and don’t have the fancy permissions yet. Don’t know how much help I can be but you’re right to be concerned.

Good Luck,

Chris

Without giving permissions, it doesn’t work.
Also I created a library pointing to a folder, and at some point it was syncing with a folder which were completely somewhere else and I never granded access to! This worries me a lot, especially in case of libraries with shared access of course.

Yes I downloaded the official client from the website.
