Server Version#: 4.14.2
Player Version#: Two different Sony BluRay Players
For some reason the DLNA option got turned off and my Sony BluRay players connected via Ethernet cables on my home network stopped working. I finally stumbled into the DLNA setting and Enabled it and all is well!
Question is: did one of the several updates that have been arriving from Plex Disable the DLNA setting in error…or… could adding a Sub-Net on my home network caused Plex to change this setting?! I can’t believe I’m the only user that experienced this problem.
Just curious though, how was I supposed to know that DLNA was turned off all of a sudden causing the devices on my home network to stop working?! I have been using Plex Server for years with no issues or need to know about DLNA etc. Do I have an alternative to DLNA enabled for Sony devices on my home network?
Yeah, Yeah, I figured that out on my own. But you did not answer any of my questions.
How was I supposed to know Plex decided to Disable DLNA on one of its recent updates? I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out what went wrong with my network! I guess I became complacent since Plex Server just always worked without any issues.
Also, Sony BluRay players are pretty good Plex devices as long as DLNA is Enabled. Is there something I’m missing and need to change so these devices will work on my home network without having DLNA Enabled?
I can’t believe I’m the only guy using W10, Plex Server and Sony Devices to manage and play my Movie and Music Collections on an Ethernet home network?
Thanks for the suggested alternatives. That’s a plan, I’ve got several Fire Sticks on the shelf. I guess I better go back to using them! I just fell in love with the Sony BluRay players because it eliminated one device I had to play with!
In the future, I’ll try to read the Plex Update information before committing. Hopefully, the number of updates will subside a bit. Seems like there has been an update every couple days recently.
