Plex server won't add new files

Hi all,

I am running PMS on a windows server and storage on a Synology NAS. I recently started having an issue with new files not showing up in any of my movie libraries. I have added, rescanned the library files, but no luck. I have also removed the files not showing up, emptied trash, cleaned bundles, re-added the files and rescanned, but still no luck. My filenames match the Plex naming convention - MovieName (Year).mkv

Anything else I can try short of rebuilding all my libraries?

Thank you,
David

Server Version#: 1.16.1.1291

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 5 minutes
  6. fetch log files and attach them here

Or inspect them yourself. Take a look at the Plex Media Server.log file and seek for messages about database corrupt or malformed.
If you find these, you may have to repair your database.

Hi OttoKerner,

Thank you so much for the help. I have attached the logs - please let me know if you see anything that could be a problem. I really appreciate it!

Thanks,
David

Very strange…I rebooted (again) and this time, the library updated. I had a failed Windows update and I wonder if that caused an issue and yet another reboot flushed that out!?

Thank you!

Very curious indeed. Glad you got it working!

There are no signs of database corruption in your logs, btw.

That is very good to know. I appreciate the help!

One thing I did notice before the restart was that a re-scan of the library completed extremely quick…under a second. Leads me to believe that there was actually something that prevented PMS from actually running the scan…and that a restart resolved whatever issue was causing that.

For my info, do you have a recommendation between running PMS on Windows 10 vs Ubuntu? I am more familiar with Windows (only a little experience with Ubuntu) but wondering if I would gain anything by switching to Linux instead of Windows.

Thanks again!

If you are not able to solve the ususal little annoyances (which occur from time to time with any OS), then you should stick to whatever you’re comfortable with.

If you want to learn a new OS, then go for it, of course. I’d try first in a VM before making the big switch. With Plex there is no limit to how many servers you can run in your account, so you can run several servers on different OS’s comfortably side-by-side, if you want.
