Plex Show sorting and fixing

Add a feature to allow us to manually sort shows within the web app so that they are shown correctly, including how many seasons, what episodes in which season, and the order they are in.

I know you can do this via the file system so plex will pick it up correctly, but when you start getting into the thousands of files and folders in can be a serious pain to keep track of in the file system side of things!

A System like I drew up above would be great to make it easy to sort what content is supposed to go where, so I can just merge shows that are showing up as multiple shows into one giant “blob” and then just manually sort them out, or maybe even when I open the menu they are already in the “presorted” order and I can just move them around into the correct order. I should be able to manually create as many seasons as I want, and put the episodes in those seasons in whatever order I want, as well as deciding what items are extras, or trailers as well.

There’s already two similar suggestions covering what you describe in your post:

  1. manually changing the episode numbers / order → Manually Renumber TV Episodes
  2. fixing individual episodes (w/ matching) → Fix Individual Episode Matches

Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion, I suggest you comment/vote in those threads in order to avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes (as a result closing this thread as a duplicate).

Personally I recommend to go with a more “sustainable” approach… if you take the effort to properly sort/name the episodes in the first place, this will also survive a potential server rebuild (while your manual dragging/dropping/renaming will most likely be lost if your database gets fried). In the meantime you can even work with a .plexmatch file to fix/adjust the episode association.
