There is a movie in which one of the cast members is shown incorrectly. The name of the actress in the movie is Peyton List, however, it so happens that there are two actresses with the same name. Plex is showing the other actress named Peyton List, instead of the one in the movie. Please fix this.
Simple solution… fix the matching of the movie… https://support.plex.tv/articles/201018497-fix-match-match/
I don’t think this is about a mismatched movie… it’s about bad data in one of the sources used by Plex.
@SuperPanda01: there’s little Plex themselves can do about such a mismatch. Your best shot will be to report this to TheMovieDb.org or fix it yourself at the source.
@DH283798PLX The movie is matched correctly. The poster, synopsis etc are all correct. It’s only that the lead actress in the movie is being shown incorrectly because there is another actress with the same name.
@tom80H I checked TheMovieDb.org, and the actress is mentioned correctly over there. So I refreshed metadata in Plex, moved the movie out of the scanned folder and added it again, but Plex is still showing the wrong actress.
The movie is this one - https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/768717-gothic-springs. The actress in the movie I’m talking about is Peyton List - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peyton_List_(actress,_born_1998)
However, Plex is instead showing her - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peyton_List_(actress,_born_1986)
What agent are you using with this library?
As you pointed out, the online records seem fine; from what I can tell there’s also been no recent update/fix that might not yet show on Plex.
Looks like the data on IMDb is correct as well.
Does the file contain embedded metadata / cast information?
@tom80H I’m using the Plex Movie agent for the library. The file does not contain any embedded metadata.
Edit: So I changed the agent to The Movie Database, and that fixed the problem. However, changing it back to Plex Movie causes Plex to show the wrong actress again. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?
Let me ask around a bit… I can reproduce this on my playground server. Looks like some accidental mix-up.
Same thing is happening for Roger Moore, in movies. Plex shows actor Roger Moore, born in 1900 for films like Moonraker, whereas it should be showing Sir Roger Moore, born in 1927. Examining the metadata XML, both actors are mapped to a single cast tag, ID 6039 and 'RogerMoore". The metadata source is TheMovieDB, where two distinct actors are listed (e.g., see “Moonraker,” and “Pickup on South Street.” My copy of each film is in MKV format.
Thanks for reporting this!
