The Love Boat season 3:
Most of the episode thumbnails for this season are incorrect.
For example:
The thumbnails for E10 and E11 both belong to E12.
The thumbnail for E06 belongs to E08.
The thumbnail for E14 belongs to E13.
The Love Boat season 4:
The thumbnails for E14 and E15 are around the wrong way.

Please take a look at the thetvdb series season here: https://thetvdb.com/series/the-love-boat/seasons/official/3 and open up each of the problematic episodes in a new tab. If the thumbnails on your server match what is here, that probably means thetvdb entries ought to be updated with the correct thumbnails.

What agent and scanner are you using?
Using the Plex TV Series agent and scanner everything appears to be matching ok
For season 3 there is a mix between tvdb and tmdb for the thumbnails but they are all correct pulling from one source or the other
Season 4 has the correct thumbnails for the episodes you listed and are being pulled from tmdb
I also switched between the tvdb and tmdb (aired) show order and I don’t see any difference
The thumbnails on TVDB are also incorrect but are completely different images. Mine match watch.plex.
I am also using the Plex TV Series scanner and the thumbnails are not correct. They appear to be sourced from watch.plex where the thumbnails are the same images that I am seeing and attached to incorrect episodes.

I understand what you’re saying now. When I said the posters appear to be correct, I mean they match what TVDB and TMDB have listed.
I assume you are judging this by what you’re seeing as you play the actual episode. I don’t have this show I just used dummy files to check how they show up inside Plex
If there is a mix up or error the change will have to be done at the TVDB or TMDB before anything inside Plex changes
I’ve had this issue with other metadata problems and I’ve been told, we as users are responsible for submitting those changes
Yes, I absolutely am. And also because sometimes you can tell by the actors in the thumbnails which don’t match the cast for the episode.
I was told on a post from another forum that there are two sources - either TVDB or watch.plex. The thumbnails I see are completely different to TVDB but match what I see on watch.plex.
I have only just checked TMDB because I didn’t think the thumbnails would come from there but my incorrect ones match theirs.
Upon further investigation, mine don’t exactly match anywhere (TVDB, TMDB or watch.plex). There seems to be some kind of ‘glitch’ in my Plex server/metadata with the thumbnails. I’ve tried removing the entire The Love Boat folder, doing the Plex Dance, and moving the folder back but the thumbnails are still wrong. You can see here screenshots for two of episodes in season 5. TMDB and watch.plex are correct but mine are not - they appear for different episodes.

Surely someone is able to shed some light on what’s happening. Getting more and more frustrated (using a polite word) with these thumbnails - the more I check, the more I find mismatches and double-ups.
I’ve done some further investigating and it would be great if someone can provide some help.
It seems to me that the thumbnails were sourced/extracted from the media files themselves when added to Plex, and the thumbnails were then ‘associated’ with the episode numbers. I say this because the episodes that have incorrect thumbnails are from files that had incorrect episode numbers when first added to Plex. After I removed those files from Plex, re-numbered and re-added them, I was able to see where the issue was happening with the thumbnails. I’m thinking the only way to fix it is to get Plex to retrieve new thumbnails (refreshing metadata doesn’t work). Is there any way to clear/delete the thumbnail info for the individual episodes, or the entire series, so I can re-add the files and (hopefully) get the correct thumbnails?
Those thumbnails are not being created or extracted from the media you have
They are being downloaded from the TMDB. If you want to correct things or make changes that’s where you have to do it
Nothing you do with your files is going to help unless you take your own screen shots and add them to your media manually

Thanks, at some point I came across ones that match no sources at all (TVDB, TMDB, plex.watch) but there are just too many episodes to go through looking for the incorrect ones to check against all sources. I’ll just leave them as they are and try to ignore the ones that are wrong
