Server Version#: 1.13.10.352
plexmediaserver snap version not deleting files even if it is configured on settings, I just receive the error There was a problem deleting this item.
Permissions ok for deletion ?
Suggest proving logs covering the time of the error and also the startup sequence with debug logging enabled before starting the server

Yes it is enabled

That is not what i meant. I was referring to Permissions within the FileSystem for the plex user account. I will have a look at the logs
I even made chmod 777 for testing this works with docker and deb but I had disadvantages with other options:
deb = manual upgrades
docker = had problem mapping or updating new folders locations
I have looked into this and it might be because of some data inconsistency. Is the media being deleted for recorded TV Shows?
(We have an issue at this moment in 1.13.9 and could be in this version as well where some count of episodes end up being wrong)
Would like to see the XML for media items that give rise to the error
See https://support.plex.tv/articles/201998867-investigate-media-information-and-formats/
Any media folder gives the same error
Here is a xml file on an audio plexfile.zip (1007 Bytes)
Thanks - so happens with paths that have extended characters and ones that don’t ?
The example you gave me was for /home/alculete/Media/Music/Azagaia/Azagaia - Declaração de Paz (Vampiros) -®Kongoloti Records/01 Declaração de Paz (Vampiros).mp3"
Are you able to confirm if this is specific to the snap build?
It happens with all files disregarding its extended characters
I’m not entirely sure but, I used deb before and was able to delete files, I removed because I had to update manually, then I used docker version, it wasn’t that easy to get it to work and I found it hard to add new folders. So I installed snap version for auto updates and easy configuration and lost the ability to remove files through web or my smart TV
Thank you for the feedback
I have referred the issue to the development team
Has there been any update on this? I switched from the apt-get version of Plex to the Snap version of Plex over the weekend and also can’t delete any of my media.
Thanks for feedback. Lets get all the evidence i need to have this pinned down and we can now eliminate snap
So please running with debug logging enabled on the server
Then try the delete and capture the logs zip
and the following diagnostics
- zip of the
Preferences, xmlfile - send by Private Message - list directory for media item being deleted showing owner/permissions/file names and directory
- the xml that gets returned from this request
http://127.0.0.1:32400/library/sections?X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
You can send me the xml from this zipped in private message
For token - you can get it either from Preferences.xml or follow steps here https://support.plex.tv/articles/204059436-finding-an-authentication-token-x-plex-token/
and download zip of the database - may need to upload on dropbox or similar service and send me link by private message
Do you have any duplicate media files in the libraries in different paths / different file names (but same file hash - ie same content) ?
Plex Media Server merges duplicate items into one database entry
