When selecting a streaming movie on PLEX (from PLEX server, NOT my server) the movie plays on my TV fine, but once an Ad comes on, the movie restarts after the Ad. I cannot find any settings to fix this problem. Anyone else having the same problem?
I’m not quite sure I understand what’s happening?
The subject of your thread implies that the stream won’t continue after an ad has been showing… I’m not picking that up from the description.
Would you mind elaborating what you see / what’s happening (or not)?
Also… on what Plex app are you experiencing this behavior? If you’re seeing it on a browser – is it the same behavior if you’re using a different browser?
Ok, here goes. I log into my PLEX account from my Samsung TV. Instead of watching a movie from my library I select a movie from one available on “Movies and TV on PLEX”. I start the movie and after perhaps 15 or 20 minutes the movie is interrupted by a series of Advertisements, presumably from PLEX. There is a timer in the top left corner of the screen that tells me how many seconds until my movie is supposed to resume. When that timer ends, the movie restarts but not at the point the ads started but at the beginning. If I want to continue watching the movie at or near where it was interrupted I have to fast forward which is a nightmare.
This ONLY happens when I watch from PLEX library, never happens when I am watching movies in my library. Hope that clarifies.
I’ve never seen that kind of behavior with any of my own clients.
On what platform version of Samsung’s Tizen platform is your Samsung TV and which exact version of the Plex app do you have installed?
Do you experience this issue with the account you’re using in the forum or a different one?
Along with what Fearn8 reported, this is a problem watching a PLEX provided movie. From time to time after the commercial break, the commercial ends and the movie does not continue. Blank screen.
Since there is no way to restart the movie, you have to exit and then pick the movie again to RESUME. At that point you will sit through another 4 minutes of ads, whereby the movie may or may not always continue that second time either, but usually it does. This is not a constant issue, but some times are worse than others.
I also noticed this problem early this year with a few other movie apps, but the problem went away with those apps and has now surfaced again with Plex.
The other issue is that the audio volume of the commercials is twice as high as the volume of the movie. If you have someone in the household sleeping and your trying to keep the volume low, when the commercial comes on, they will be disturbed by the excessive volume. It’s not just a little louder, it’s actually double the volume.
PLEX has become my preferred GO TO place for either searching for movies or watching movies featured by PLEX. Overall it’s a fantastic product with these few bugs.
Update on my issues with restart. I watched some of the same movies I was having trouble with on our newer LG tv and it had no problems. Our Samsung is about 6 or 7 years old so I am thinking the processor is just not fast enough to handle the command after the Ads end. Thoughts?
