I am a long time user of plex but plex sync seems to break right before I go on holiday and need it every year…
It is again sitting on 50% waiting for server / pending.
I am on the latest plex pass server version and iOS version.
I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app.
I use a symbolic link for my Sync/Sync+ folders but this has worked fine in the past.
I am a little low on disk space on the server HTPC (around 3.5gb free) but I am not getting any warnings and as above the sync folder on a symbolic link has previously worked fine.
Any idea where to start troubleshooting? It would be really good if the error messages were more helpful.

You’ll need to provide logs (server and sync client) for us to look into.

Same over here
Running
Plex Server (Version 1.3.3.3148)
iPhone SE, latest version of Plex App (20/12/2016 v4.6.1)
Local network, same subnet
I’ll need more info, but from your log I don’t see any issues. Although, I don’t see it trying to sync either. It checks the lists of items that needs to be synced, then stops. You log just sorta ends there.
@MovieFan.Plex
new log attached.
From startup server to finish sync process from a iphone 4 (192.168.4.161)
Note: media is not synced to my iPhone, on the app, I see message that “some media is not ready”
I don’t know if Mobile Sync still works with the iPhone 4. That’s going to be running a really old version of the iOS app. There have been so many changes to the app and to PMS since that was a supported device. Let me check around and see if this should be working.
In the meantime, can you enter this (using your own token) into your browser and provide me the results?
OK, found that token
Attached you can find my sync_lists.xml
PS. is there a way to clear all sync lists @ serverside? Maybe there is a corrupt sync list definition? I can live with clearing all sync lists and start all over again

Ok thanks. It’s as I feared. I did check with the devs and seeing your XML, Mobile Sync is no longer going to work on an iPhone 4 running that old a version of the Plex for iOS app and with newer versions of PMS.> @plex.plessers@gmail.com said:

No, there is no automatic method to clear all Sync jobs. Also, you can only clear your jobs. To erase other users, you would need to be able to log in as that user or switch to that user account if you use Plex Home. But due to the limitation I mentioned above, I don’t think this will help in your case.
Ok, for the iPad I see duplicates of several albums you are trying to sync. I would recommend deleting all the Sync jobs and starting over for that device. Please check from both the device and from Plex Web. If ti doesn’t work, please provide a new log with this new sync attempt and a new xml too.
an android device (Huawei P8 lite) with user bo.plessers
an iPad device (iOS 10.2) with user mediacenter.plessers
an iPhone SE device with user sarabosmans
none of them are syncing.
Maybe this is an issue with homeusers, not having a plex pass?
kind regards,
Bart
PS.
What did you mean with “Please check from both the device and from Plex Web”?
On the devices, I cleared every sync item.
On the web, I don’t see my devices…!
I.e. http://app.plex.tv/web/app#!/settings/devices
In section android, I don’t see the huawei:
When using Plex Web, you only see the devices for your Admin user. You need to switch over to each user to see their devices. There is a pause option to stop unwanted conversions. Maybe this was turned on for these other users so their syncing won’t progress any further.
I was trying out some things and was able to reproduce the problem. I got the sync jobs piling up all waiting for the server. The conversion tab would show it was unavailable. Clearing out the jobs and creating new ones didn’t help.
For me, turns out that my admin account had the conversion process paused. I added a new sync job to my admin account and the conversion tab showed up and was paused. Hit resume, deleted the sync jobs. Switched to a managed user and the sync job started right up. Try this and see if this helps.
In the mean time, I’m going to verify if that pause option is a server setting and not a user setting.
ha! Exactly what I found out right now. Wanted to give feedback, but you were first!
Only difference here: I started sync job WITH conversion (select “low” on quality) as plex home user
On Admin account, I saw conversion paused. Started conversion again and client on home user started syncing.
Tested now with home user on iPhoneSE and iPad. Seems to work fine.
