Plex Tizen client versus iPad App

Server Version#: Last
Player Version#: Last

My LAN hosts a Synology DS718+ running Plex Media Server. It’s connected to my LAN via Gigabit Ethernet. Transcoding is disabled to maintain optimal playback.

My Samsung TQ43QN90D TV, also connected via Gigabit Ethernet, is running the latest version of Tizen and uses the native Plex client.

When I play a 4K HDR movie, the image stutters. When I watch the same movie using the Plex client on my 2024 iPad Pro (iPadOS 26.4.1), the image is perfect.
Is there a parameter I missed ?

Thank’s for your help …

Your TV has only a 100Mb network interface, so it’s not able to handle a 4K HDR movie

Maybe try and connect via wireless instead?

Sorry, this is not correct! 100Mbit/s is (allmost) sufficient for 4k Videos. Maybe the Sound track (DTS) needs to be transcoded because Samsung TV can’t handle it. This is not an issue for android! I can tell you whats going on, if you post a mediainfo dump of your 4k video.

The subtitles could be the reason.

What do you mean ? a corrupted SRT file ???

looks like audio is transcoding, but subtitles usually require transcoding also to insert them into the video

I don’t think that audio transcoding is a problem.

But I’ve a doubt about subtitles. Who make the integration ? Plex Client on the TV ?

If Plex doesn’t understand the subtitle type, the unknown subtitle stream will be sent to the TV. This can irritate the TV.

It’s not sufficient my streams fluctuate from 60 to 140mbs. If you have bad quality movies it could work.

What is the format and codec of the file? Sometimes the problem is in there. H265 encoding needs a more powerful hardware to handle it.

I have to test with an other 4k film with approuved quality
