Plex Transcoding Errors when playing AC3 Audio

Server Version#: 1.41.4.9463
Player Version#: Android 10.26.0.2578

Running into the following when trying to play AC3 audio on certain devices. I know there’s been a lot of discussion around AC3 audio but I’ve googled up and down and these errors seem different:

Some things I’ve tried

  • Deleting Codecs folder to force Plex to re-download
  • Created brand new Transcode directory and set it in settings, same error generates in the fresh directory

To me, these errors don’t look like they have anything to do with AC3 in particular.
I’d rather point my finger towards an over-zealous anti virus software which feels the need to inspect every single chunk of media in the transcoder temp folder.
Tell your AV software not to stick its nose into there and monitor the situation afterwards.

Intriguing idea - I did just add the entire Plex AppData directory to exclusions in Windows Defender but that did not make a difference, I’m still getting a ton of these errors upon stream initiation.
