Plex TV Agent is unable to match a show recently added and when I do a manual fix match the windows spends a long time loading then eventually shows 'no matches found". Same thing happens when I try to match a show with that already had metadata downloaded in the past or even a movie, the Plex TV and Plex Movie Agents simply aren’t working for me.debug logging should be enabled
Sounds like your server fails to connect to the metadata provider. Do you experience the same if you set a different DNS (e.g. Google‘s 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4, or Cloudflare‘s 1.1.1.1)?
Can you post your server logs? Are you using a cloud host?
I set dns to cloudflare and still no resolution

Rename and re-organize media files per Plex requirements.
Do not add the root folder of a drive (E:\) to a Plex library
Do not add DVD or Blu-ray folders to Plex. They are not supported and will cause problems (E:\The Blue Planet\The Blue Planet 4 DVD\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_0.BUP).
For TV Shows, the show folder must be directly below the folder added to the library (you cannot add E:\ to a library and have shows in E:\SeriesExt)
Use proper structure for tv show extras (E:\Battlestar Galactica (2003)\Battlestar Galactica Featurettes\Season 2\David Eick Video Blogs - Episode - 205 Day Two.mkv)
It may be necessary to Plex Dance a show after renaming & reorganizing.
E:\ <-- do not add to any Plex library.
..\SeriesExt <-- add to desired TV Show library

Thanks but that’s not it. 15 episodes previously named exactly the same, and 5 episodes of another show name exactly the same, as well as another 12 of different show name exactly the same but the last episodes since server update show the naming is the issue? Also, when I search for anything on the `plex tv series or movie database it is coming back as not fond
Yeah same. I updated plex server and had some windows updates that were done.
The log files show DNS timeouts. They stopped when you restarted Plex on Mar 28, 2025 at 15:05:03.258.
You got lucky.
If you follow Plex naming and organization requirements, then it works.
If you don’t it might work – until it doesn’t.
Naming issues are one of the most common reasons for forum posts. These happen when A) they are adding new media and haven’t for a while, or b) having to rebuild their library for some reason.
Both are caused by the fact that the plex agent does it best to parse non-standard naming schemas, but as time progresses support for more and more non-standard naming schemas are dropped. Which means what worked a year ago, may not now.
In this case it sounds like DNS, but you do have naming issues that need fixed too.
Well, looks like it fixes itself without any input or change from me. No naming changes or DNS. Just a server hiccup that resolved itself after a few days
