Last night, the web interface to my Plex server suddenly stopped working and is completely unable to see my Plex server. It’s important to stress that no changes whatsoever had been made, no new version of Plex installed, no changes to my network, nothing. If I try to connect to the Server using the local TCP/IP address all I see is the content that Plex makes available for streaming, if I try to configure “Your Media” I get told to install a Plex server, so apparently my Plex server is no longer visible. If I log out and log back in again, the login screen says my Plex server is “not hosted by Plex”. Things I’ve tried:
Reinstalling the Plex server
Turing off Windows Firewall on the Plex Server
Clearing the browser cache
Trying from a completely different browser
No change for any of these things. The odd thing is my local NVidia Shield Plex client is having no problem playing content from the server. I’ve looked various support articles and can’t see anything that helps. I would post logs, but apparently Verbos mode is enabled and since I can’t get to the Plex server Admin console I can’t change the logging mode.
are you with Virgin media? I had a similar issue this morning where my plex server is not being seen, I use a VPN over Virgin but I have a bypass VPN software running to let the Plex through the VPN. Long story short.
When I actually turn off the VPN bypass and let the Plex run through the VPN it works, I can log in at the website, I can reclaim the server and everything works as expected, if I run over the virgin broadband… No such luck.
I hope this is just typical temporary issues with virgin and normality will resume soon, that is as far as my investigation has gone. If you have a VPN software, try it and see if the issues are gone.
it did fix the issue for me, and what you wanted to do is use a VPN to bypass virgin, I was using a VPN bypass to allow my Plex to work over virgin, turning it off work by diverting plex through its server and not through virgins increasingly annoying dns. Anyway it should hopefully be working for you now, without any “futtering” because the virgin service seems to be working normally again. What a PAIN
Still not working here, traceroute still times out trying to reach plex.tv. Interestingly, I tried connecting to my phone hotspot (O2 network) and I can’t traceroute via their network either, so it doesn’t look like this is an entirely Virgin problem.
