Just upgraded from a basic WD DUO HOME server to the Synology DS920+ DSM7
I installed Plex (via the plex download area) and configured it to find my Movie & TV shared folders on the NAS. It started populating the Movies correctly but when it came to TV Programmes it started to do do odd things to about 50% of the shows:
Initially Plex finds a series (correctly shows the right cover and that it has all the episodes (for example 10 episodes in season 1) with all the correct matadata/episodes info then after analyzing it suddenly removes every episode but the 1st one so it appears like theres only 1 episode in a 10 episode season.
However, this isnt consistent as some shows appear ok but many end up with just 1 episode in a season.
All episodes are named in the same way: eg.
Foundation - s01e01.mkv
Foundation - s01e02.mkv
Foundation - s01e03.mkv
If I just import one season then Plex will show all 10 episodes and then after Plex analyzed the intros it suddenly deletes all episodes but the 1st one.
FYI this never happened on my old WD DUO HOME nas so is it an issue with Synology DSM7 or a setting in Plex?
Make sure the system internal user PlexMediaServer has read privileges (or read/write) to the entire TV show folder structure.
No mixing TV shows and movies in the same library. They must be separate and in the correct library type.
Follow Plex naming convention for TV Shows.
/TV Shows <-- Folder added to TV Show library. Can name it anything you want.
.../Foundation (2021) <-- Show_Name (year)
....../Season 01 <-- "Season" in English, two digits for season number
........./Foundation (2021) - s01e01.mkv

I was already doing most of those thing apart from adding the year of each season. I’m only testing this with about 6 TV series because if this works I may have to do a lot of renaming. Im moving from a cheap/slow WD Home NAS to the Synology.
Following your suggestion as follows:
TV Shows/Foundation (2022)/Season 01/Foundation (2022) - s01e01.mkv
TV Shows/Foundation (2022)/Season 01/Foundation (2022) - s01e02.mkv
TV Shows/Foundation (2022)/Season 01/Foundation (2022) - s01e03.mkv
This worked for seasons like Severance & Becoming Elizabeth but for some reason Foundation, Shining Girls, Belgravia & Black Bird are either showing EP 01/Pilot episode as separate thumbnails & then another cover with the rest of the episodes or (as in Foundation) its showing all 10 episodes as separate thumbnails. How do I make a series come together as one series on the home page and then split out correctly as seasons from within an episode with all episodes only showing inside and not split out on the home screen?
Also, even though ive followed convention it seems that ‘Foundation’ cover thumbnails also includes the bracketed year (2022) whereas the others just show the series title.
Here’s a closer shot of the thumbs within HOME. Notice how the first two series display correctly but the rest dont… At least they are all showing now in some form or another.
