Plex TV UNO Preview for Samsung 2016+ UHD

Hello everyone!

We’re excited to announce a preview release of the TV app for Samsung devices. This version includes the new UNO design. For more information regarding UNO including what it is and how to enable it, please see this post here.

This release is for UHD Samsung devices running on Tizen 2.4 or higher (2016+).

How to Install the Preview

The build is not available on the Samsung App store yet, so it will need to be sideloaded onto your TV directly.

You will need:

  1. Uninstall the existing Plex application
  2. Download the .zip release above
  3. On your USB stick, create a folder called userwidget
  4. Unzip the contents of the .zip file into the userwidget folder you just created
  5. Turn on the TV
  6. Plug in the USB drive into your Samsung UHD device. Installation should start automatically.
  7. Run the App from your Smart Hub, or from the App store.

Enabling UNO:

  1. In the TV app, go to Settings → Main.
  2. Enable Preview the new Plex experience

    • Turn on “Log to Media Server” under Settings -> Privacy so we can see the Samsung logs as well

Hi sLumpy

When the app becomes available in Samsung app store, does the sideloaded app have to be manually removed or will it auto update as new releases hit the Samsung store?

Is the resume issue fixed in this release?

It looks like there is an issue with the home page…

Recently aded movies says “content unavailable” where movies page shows this just fine…
