Plex UI breaks and becomes unresponsive when pressing the 3-dot menu on Samsung and LG TVs

I’m seeing this issue on my LG OLED 65C3 TV but someone else has reported the same issue on their Samsung S90C TV in this post:

Users in this post’s comments have also reported the issue on the Samsung Frame 2024 and PlayStation.

Reproduction Steps:

  1. Launch plex app on the TV and play a song
  2. Try to open the 3-dot menu:

  3. The app will now be permanently stuck in this blank screen:

Pressing the back button on your remote doesn’t do anything. There is no way to fix it except to force quit the app and re-launch it.

I think the issue started happening around the beginning of 2025 but not exactly sure. It wasn’t happening in 2023 and I think it wasn’t happening on all or most of 2024.

Same exact thing happening to me on a Samsung Frame 2024. I’ve been casting from my mobile to the sound system directly, completely by-passing the TV. It works, but it doesn’t solve the problem.

Same on my LG OLED tv using the tv Plex ap. Also happens on my PlayStation.

Go to your Avatar top Right/ Settings/ Advanced/ Reset Cache

Name for ⋮ / Vertical Ellipsis / Kebab Menu/ More Vert / More options

Reset Cache is available on all Mobile apps

Thanks, but that didn’t fix it.
I tried the option called “Reset App” in Settings > Advanced since there was not “Reset Cache” but it still gets stuck after trying to access the 3-dot menu.

Yeah, that didn’t fix it for me either, I ran into the same issue.

Keep in mind that setting can resolve some issues.
