Plex unable to connect securely to my cloud home

I have a my cloud home and I was using it as a flex media server, it was working fine for a while but now for some reason I just keep getting the message that Alex can’t connect to the server securely. I have tried reconfiguring it from the server end, but I have had no luck. does anyone know how to solve this issue

I’m having this exact same issue, it’s incredibly frustrating. I suspect a Plex update is to blame but until they confirm that I guess we’re stuck with…nothin’.

Firstly, can you provide a screen shot from the MCH app showing what version of Plex Media Server is installed.

Next, @harr36 I see you deleted your account recently. You’ll need to restore your account or create a new one. To restore, you should have received an email about the account deletion, in that email is a link to restore your account.

@Jess_TV Are you still having issues? You account shows your server is running and responding.


That is an old version of PMS. I don’t think that version works on the MCH devices anymore after the devices updated to Linux. You should be offered a more current version. Go ahead and disable PMS. Restart the device so it will recheck with the WD store and see if you are offered an update to a newer version. If not, go ahead and re-enable PMS, then hit configure. You should be taken to a Plex page where it may ask for you to sign into your Plex account, or if you are already signed into a Plex account, it will say “Account xxxx wants to sign into your server”. Go ahead and accept and your server should be reclaimed under the account xxx mentioned in that message.

Do you only see 1.25.9 for the version of PMS that is available?

i see there is now a different version on there, but still getting the exact same issue

Ok. After you enable that version, then hit “Coinfigure”, what happens?

exactly the same as before, the message that says can’t connect securely

For my cloud home or for plex?

Ok. Looks like it was able to properly claim your server, but it couldn’t redirect back to app.plex.tv. Likely your remote access isn’t setup properly so you cannot access your server using app.plex.tv. Instead use your NAS’s local IP address.

That is just an example, replace that address with the actual address of your NAS.

how would i find the address of my nas

From the WD page, go to the settings for the MyCloud Home. From that window, mouse over “Device Logs”. Your IP should at the bottom of your browser window. For me, I see.

192.168.0.0:33284/cgi-bin/logs.sh

You only need these first 4 numbers. Ignore the rest.
