My Plex server will work off and on and can’t figure out why it continues to do this. When I was getting it for free I had no issues and when I bought out right, no issues until after the first year. It’s been a few years now and it continues to stop working. I’m ready for the support folks to tell me what to do.
Would you mind to be a bit more specific about what exactly isn’t working for you?
Also… what version of Plex Media Server do you have installed – and on what platform (the thread title refers WD My Cloud home, however you tagged the thread as a Windows issue)?!
Doesn’t matter if I try to access the server on my laptop, any LG tv in the house, Apple TV, iPad, or iPhone, there’s an exclamation point and it won’t access the server. I can access the drive through the WD app or mapped drive on my laptop. This will go on for weeks until it will just start working again until it stops. Version 7.17 on my phone.

Does your entire server appear to be offline or do those clients fail to connect to individual libraries?
Also… still interested in what version of the Plex Media Server you have installed (not the client app versions) → check Settings > [Server Name] > General from https://app.plex.tv/desktop or http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web
I actually installed it from the WD drive using my iPad. I have accessed Plex using my laptop. Everything on the Plex site is working except access to my movie library. Like I said, it does it so much that I use the WD app to access my movies. The Version is 4.57.2
When you say “Plex site is working except access to my movie library” do you mean “Plex can’t find my video files in the NAS”?
all the stuff like live tv, movies & shows, podcasts and web shows are available. That is correct. I keep getting this error, the server my cloud home does not allow secure connections. Ask me to toggle to allow insecure connections.
It’s very important that you say exactly what is happening. The message above is a valuable information for the support team to know from where to start helping you.
Every time the reason is different. Sometimes it will say that there are no files on the server. Other times it says files are not available, other times it shows the files are there and then when you go to access a movie it’s not available. I thought maybe you’d like to see the logs and see if you could isolate the issue. I’m not a computer genius but when I bought the WD drive, I followed the directions to initiate Plex, purchased the lifetime option and moved the movies over. Which I went an entire year with no issues until exactly one year after installation, when I started having issues. I just want to be able to access the movies when someone in the house wants to watch a movie.

I believe I did. I’m in a recovery room after having surgery this afternoon so I can’t verify the version from the laptop again until I get home tomorrow sometime. I believe I gave him the app ver at first and then they provided where to find it on the laptop and I sent it in.

Wow… that’s an extremely old version of Plex.
Go to this page, and download the latest one for your model. Pay attention to the WD OS version. The “Western Digital” refers to OS 5 and the other one to OS 3.
That version seems to be working today. But I’m going to download the new version. Just recall, that I had mentioned I never used my laptop to get the Plex server started the initial time, I used my iPad to do that. It was until I wanted to use my laptop to watch it through my projector that I installed the media server to the laptop.
I’ve installed the newest version per your instruction. Exactly why i didnt want to install it, now it thinks my laptop is a server. All I ever wanted was for my laptop to see the plex player, so I can see my movies. I had this happen before, it always defaulted to my laptop and when my laptop was off, I couldn’t see any movies.
Sorry, but I told you to update your Plex server in your NAS, not your laptop.
