Plex viewing Personal Folders

Plex gets better over time, but a recent event concerns me.
Like many I store my own content to view on other devices (why else use Plex) but recently and perhaps after the last server update - Plex has asked me to review content I viewed from that private folder.

Plex should not be able to track my watched content from my personal storage? Yes/No

Can you please explain the exact message and what personal storage Plex shouldn’t be able to see? Plex should only scan folders that you have added to your libraries – if you added a folder from said personal storage, Plex will also scan that.

I’m not sure I understand what you’ve experienced.

Look at the icon of this library. If it looks like a celluloid frame, and not like a video camera, then you are using a “Movies”-type of library.
And this library type is trying to “match” your videos to know movies. Apparently, it has done so at least with some of your videos. That way they get linked with titles which are listed.
Even if you edited the item and overwrote all the data like title and poster etc., this link remains intact, until you explicitly trigger “Unmatch”.

For all private videos, of course it would be better to create a library of the type “Other Videos”. That way Plex will not attempt to find a match with a regular movie.

Sure. On my server I store all kinds of data.
I have a folder for Movies and TV shows.
I was surprised to see requests to rate recent movies that I watched, that did not originate from Plex.
I had not noticed that before. It means that the Plex app is sharing information of my viewing my stored content, which I did not authorize.
I have now renamed that folder - and will check if that solved the issue.
