Plex VPN Compatibility.

Hey All,

I’ve made a few attempts to set up a VPN on the same server I host PlexMediaServer on. This has always resulted in me throwing the nearest object/person in the room in frustration. I’ve got close a couple of time but routing the Plex traffic out of the VPN seems to be an issue. I’ve seen some fixed for Windows but none for macOS/Linux.

So I’d like to take a different approach. I’ve spent longer than I should have today trying to get Plex Remote Access to work with PrivateInternetAccess. There’s load of this - no definitive process guide.

So my question is - Does anyone have a server set up running Plex which is also using VPN/IP Masking software? Or has anyone seen any end-to-end process guides which they could recommend?

This is my first post. Plex is something I use daily I’ve never been so constantly impressed by or affectionate to service.

I believe a router VPN setup is required, all traffic via tunnel.

A while back I wrote about the solution I found to this…

It’s a bit outdated, but pretty much the same setup I am still using.
