Plex vs DLNA Media XboxOne

Hi All

Just trying to understand something here so hopefully someone can help me please ?
Been all over the forums and internet but struggling with this specific question.

So :-

I have a NAS that is not capable of transcoding, the majority of what I watch from the NAS is via Xbox One.

Lets say I have a file on my NAS that the Xbox Plex Client cant play because it needs transcoding from the NAS.

Why is it that I can play the exact same file via the Xbox Media Player if I stream it directly from the NAS media server (I assume using DLNA so cuts out Plex).

This would suggest to me that the Xbox can support the file & codecs etc so why doesn’t the Plex app on Xbox one play it ?

Thanks all
