Plex w/ Storj

How do I use PLEX w/ STORJ. I want to store my files on STORJ for safe keeping but want to be able to access them when i want in real time. So for example if i want to listen to Kiss music and the file is store on Storj network I can just click on play like as if it were on my own in house server and it would start to play? Can this happen and what are the step by step directions to make this happen?

Also 2nd part of this question. Does the PLEX MEDIA SERVER keep scanning over the files i have on the STORJ network or just once when i ask it to scan the files to put in the database ? Curious as to if this would incur extra costs on that network. Thanks all for the answers in advance.

  1. Plex looks for Media (Folders & Files) AS IF they are on your computer.
  • If you can make the cloud look like it’s a USB drive or a Network NAS then you’re all set
  1. You can control when and how PMS scans.
    – Anything over the net can’t automatically be detected (distant servers don’t do that)
    – You can set the interval (if desired)
    – You can keep everything entirely manual (if desired)

How would you mount Storj as a folder that PLEX would pull from?

I don’t know how you’d mount it.

For those with Google or Amazon drives, they can use rclone or several other utilities.

Once the file system is mounted with (minimally) read permissions for everyone, Plex will be able to use it.

rclone supports mounting storj too:
