Plex Web App can't find server on Qnap TS-251+

Server Version#: 1.16.6
Qnap TS-251+; two 2TB drives; Thick Volume

I’ve tried all tutorial/forum suggestions that I’ve seen. Every time I launch Plex from the Qnap QTS desktop, the web app opens but is unable to find my server. I have been unable to add my media (music only) to the library.

My DTS Play-fi music streamer can see the Plex server on the NAS, but since the web app can’t find the server and update the library there’s no music to play.

Any ideas before I return the NAS for another brand (likely Synology)?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have two of them (qnap ts-451+ and ts-251+), everything works fine.
What is the URL it tries to open?

Wow Santrax… Thank you!!! Your question led me to the solution. When I tried to open Plex the URL automatically included the name I had assigned to my NAS. Your question made me decide to substitute the IP address for the device name. That worked!!!

I don’t understand why it would try to open the wrong URL, but at least now I know the solution. My library is updating as I type this message. Thanks again.

Happy Plexing!

That’s interesting that it uses your hostname, while on my 451+ it uses my IP address when I click the PlexMediaServer icon in QTS. Nice to have bookmarks I guess.

it could depend on qnap system configuration, for example server name parameter

Oh I meant to write that even though I had entered a server hostname in QNAP like you did, it wasn’t using my hostname.
