Server Version#: Version 1.22.1.4228
Player Version#: Web player
Since a recent plex update, plex web doesn’t seem to play any more. There is an ‘animation’ against the track you select, but there is no sound and the dashboard says ‘nothing playing’.
All still fine using DLNA to VLC though.
Any ideas what is wrong? The logs have the following entry:
DEBUG - Failed to stream media, client probably disconnected after 0 bytes: 32 - Broken pipe
Ok, here you go for my logs. I had not tried to use the webapp for a few days of course, so I clicked on a few tracks around the end of these logs. Broken pipe at… Apr 05, 2021 15:19:08.637 in the server log.
I played a track on VLC whilst clicking a few on the web interface and watching the animations whilst simultaneously ‘scanning media files’ and ‘optimising bundles’. All OK apart from no playback on web interface.

Yes, of course, thats what I did. I tried playing tracks with plex/web several times in the first log and several times in the second log. How was that not clear: “whilst clicking a few (tracks) on the web interface”.
In the first log
I tried playing several tracks using the web interface
as that wasn’t good enough for some reason…
In the second log
you said ‘kick it sideways’. I had no idea what that meant, so I tried playing several tracks on the web interface whilst trying things that still work - VLC, clean bundles, scanning files etc
So it seems to me you have what you need in the logs. You won’t see much in the logs about songs playing on the web interface because they don’t play.
The only reason I mentioned VLC and DLNA is because that is the only working method remaining to play music I have. The fact it works proves to me that plex server is still running (I can see its running under linux console of course as well, and the web interface is still responding as described but not working).
In case you think any interaction with DLNA is an issue (I don’t, I’ve tried it on and off), remember that VLC is a free download from the web store and turning on DLNA is 1-click on the web interface. .
In case a picture means 1000 words, here is a screenshot showing me trying and failing to play using a browser. The orange bars against the selected track are moving in the browser window (but not in the screenshot). The dashboard says nothing is playing. Each time you select a track that fails to play you get a ‘broken pipe’ message in the debug log.
