When starting to watch some content it automatically plays the original file. The problem is the content is HDR and my PC Client doesn’t support it, therefore it’s super dark and awful in general.
The Plex Web player should check if the client supports HDR and if it doesn’t it should direct play but convert automatically. Assuming the HDR to SDR tone mapping option is enabled in the server.
Currently I have to manually change to convert automatically every time which I really shouldn’t have to do.
A quick google search reveals that the client could at least very easily check if HDR is supported. (Even though there would still be some more work to do):
