Plex Web UI not loading on Synology DS218+

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

Hi Guys,
After having enjoyed plex for weeks now suddenly the WEb ui just does not open, within a millisecond of pressing the web ui button the browser comes up with this.

This page isn’t working

192.168.1.20 didn’t send any data.

ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE.

I have stopped and restarted the service, restarted the NAS restarted the internet, opened up the PLEX port done everything. Even deleted and reinstalled Plex to the same effect (and now I have no library because I cannot set up plex after having uninstalled it and then reinstalled it)
any ideas how I can access the Web ui?

Thanks!

I did a really dumb thing. I added https:\ before my nas ip so it became https:\192.168.1.20:plexport and it seems to have started working. My question is I didn’t change anything why did it stop working before?

There is definitely something wrong. My tv plex app is not picking up the NAS on the local network, instead it is treating it as remote server and playing it off the internet.

Let me see if I can find the logs you are looking for.

Hahah sorry, I did them correctly there. Gonna see what Xplay thinks of this. Something has definitely changed.

Here are my logs. (deleted the logs as not required anymore)

Thanks very much for analysing the logs. could a recent update to the synology firmware have caused this?
I am able to access PMS now but I have had to put https:\ in front of the plex shortcut link which was not working before.

-Enabled crash reporting
-Network was definitely streaming via the internet and not the LAN. Seems to have solved itself somehow?

Might have been a network glitch or something. Thanks for your comprehensive guidance!

using the http:\ protocol comes up with the same error
however using https:\ opens up the PMS and on the link bar you can see https:\ in red and with a strikethrough it.

will reboot the whole thing and update you.

@trumpy81 I fixed it!
My own stupidity! last night I selected secured connection to ‘required’ rather than preferred. I thought that this was connection when streaming to someone’s mobile over the internet, Kind of like encrypted p2p. Setting it back to preferred fixed it.
Thanks for your help!

So glad I did. It was making me go nuts, I love Plex working flawlessly. Learning point for me
