Plex Web w/UNO UI

Only experienced server admins do that.
A very sizeable portion (if not the majority) uses the web app for everything.

Even I hit “Play” every now and then. I guess I’m an experienced server admin? I keep a Plex Web tab always open both at work and at home.

I have no doubt plex has the metrics to prove that, otherwise there wouldn’t be as much development effort behind it, but that is just crazy.

plex should consider somehow providing link to the applicable native player app for the OS/device that the web user is using.

ie windows > pmp win
mac > pmp mac
etc etc

This was not there before.

I see this reflected now. I thank you and withdraw my initial complaints!

One other thing I find that I miss on the UNO ui;

  • the spinning indicator on the library when that library is being scanned.
  • and the BACK arrow next to the home button

That is now transferred to the Activity icon at the top.

I think we know that it is there, but again it is yet another click to see what is actually being scanned, rather than having the indicator on the actual library that is being scanned

The library that’s being scanned might not even be visible atm in the side bar.

(And I have a hunch, that if you switch the side bar into the ‘More’ context and back, that the activity status will get lost with the currently used javascript frameworks.)

So is UNO not using the same javascript framework as the current plexweb?

The current interface manages to keep the spinning indicator on the library when switching between servers.

Also, that activity indicator at the top is a long way away (on a large monitor) from where you actually started the action (scan) which feels a bit poor from a UX perspective (but that might just be me)

The current Plex Web doesn’t feature a sidebar which can get customized and has two ‘modes’.
It might also be true, that UNO indeed required the introduction of another framework. I can’t say for sure, I am not that deep into the code.

To the nav spacing, the more I see it I am afraid the more I dislike it, It is just way too big.

I know it has been mentioned many times before, but I see no changes yet, so just adding my feedback.

Yes, I do agree it does makes more sense when you pin a library from a different server then they all get the server name displayed beneath the library.

I personally think it might be better to always show the server name. (especially if you are going the leave the space allocated for it in the interface) Rather than only when you pin something from another server.

It will make it more obvious which server you are on if you do have multiple servers.
(I personally don’t really have a need or want to pin something from another of my servers, as my other servers are just backup and test servers)

But having said that, even with the server names added I still the think the spacing is too big and the spacing could still be tightened up.

Anyone else get really excited when they saw the RECOMMENDED tab? For a second I thought I was going to be able to curate a list of recommended stuff. Since that doesn’t appear to be the case, I would change the wording. What does RECOMMENDED even mean here? Who’s recommending this? Why?

“Recommended” is what was once called “Discover”.

It’s basically the same thing.

Reading this and comparing to my UNO pwebplayer screen, there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to do the plex dance of emptying trash, bundles, and optimizing the database. I can see the library specific options under “manage”. (unless I’m missing it? I’m ONLY seeing Clean Bundles and Optimizing under the TROUBLE SHOOTING tab.)

Currently, there are no library maintenance actions on the HOME button in the main UI, could these global, empty trash, clean bundles, Optimize Database and Scan Library, be added under a MANAGE LIBRARIES tab so we know it’s hitting all the libraries and it’s still not buried under multiple tabs?

You can go to libraries and still do those functions.

Too many extra clicks to get to your media with this new UI. I hope they maintain the actual one as well or I’ll have to take a look again to Kodi (which I wouldn’t like it).

I am trying really hard to continue using UNO on the web app but man is the font size and spacing make it bad to look at. Any word from anyone if this will be adjusted in an update? I would really like to be able to see the full name of my libraries.

They are visible on the Roku so making this adjustment would just better align the clients.

Have got no idea if Plex will ever change it (hope they will), but in the meantime I created a few style tweaks here (You will need to install the Stylus browser add on):

Thanks. I will check that out later tonight
