Interesting. Can you do me a favor and open a private/incognito browser to app.plex.tv, don’t sign in, and start playing some of our Free On Demand or Live TV content and let me know if you’re still observing the issue. So far all reports suggest a linkage to PMS activity, whether the activity icon is displaying activity or not (background tasks, etc).
To be completely clear: I’m not playing anything at all. Just browsing my own (and also a friends) movie library causes refreshes of the browser window every now and then.
And when I say “no activity” I mean that the server is not doing maintenance, nothing is playing, nothing is being scanned. The activity icon is gray and the dashboard shows no activity.
I’ll see about testing what you said, but it feels like something that’s your job ![]()
If your friend’s server is scanning that would affect you. Did your friend turn off all scanning on his server? Did you turn off yours?
Do we have an ETA on the refresh issue?
This was pretty insulting when trying to report an issue.
Same thing on Windows desktop app and web (Edge)
Plex Web just updated to Version 4.124.1 while logged in by app.plex.tv, and all seems stable now. Anyone else?
Original issue with home page refreshing and then generating playback error was version 4.123.2 for me.
Original issue in this thread was on 4.124.1, and still reproduces.
is there an update coming to fix this? I feel like waiting it out rather than making a bunch of changes for someone else’ screwup
Checking back in…Wow this is such an awful bug. I’m so sick and tired of dealing with this. what the heck. please fix this and take measures to ensure it does not happen again.
The error popped up on Friday. It’s Wednesday now. Tomorrow will be Thursday. Then Friday again.
I thought for sure there was going to be an emergency patch yesterday due to the severity of the issue. But I guess they’re just gonna release a fix on the next update cycle.
Self hosters are not plex priority anymore
confirmed, stable on Firefox 122.1 without logging into plex, plays fine while streaming Free On Demand
Happens all the time on the windows desktop client. Super annoying, basically unusable for me.
Do you have enough logs or do you need more?
Looks like we have the commit that introduced the issue. Still waiting for a fix.
I think we’re good. Thank you though.
I got the same impression. This is not the way to treat a client.
I had to roll back to 1.86.1 on my Mac to fix the issue.
This just started affecting me today. I’m on Plex For Mac on MacOS.
I’m not adding/deleting any media, just happens randomly and very frequently.
Version 1.87.2.87-87488d5a
Version 1.40.0.7998
Yea, Otto has been helpful to me in the past but they definitely won’t take the time to try and understand. And when we paid for this service, that kind of reply is very off putting…
