I have a file, The Quiet Man.mp4, which Plex will not add to the library not matter how many times I scan the library. Usually changing the file name will solve the problem but not in this case. Help! Please note that I am very very new to Plex so I need the answer for dummies. Thanks.
Some mp4 videos have embedded metadata… under certain circumstances this can be prioritized over the file name when it comes to matching the file – hence it could happen the file is actually added to your library but showing as a different movie.
Does the file show up when you display your content by folders or when sorting by Date Added?
If it’s a little more complicated… you can have a look at this support article which lists a number of potential causes why Plex might ignore a file (e.g. if you want to add a movie to a tv-show library).
