I am trying to record American Dad through the guide and the recording data saves like it should but does not show up on upcoming recordings and does not record.

I was able to setup a recording for this coming Sun.
Couple of thoughts.
Do you have it set to record New Only or New and Repeats. Perhaps for some reason, your EPG is not showing it as New.
Do you have it set to record only during certain times. I had that happen one time.
I have it set to New and Repeats, Recording time is “any”. Under DVR schedule “Recording Priority” shows it is scheduled but with no upcoming episodes. Deleted that schedule and went to next Sunday and started a new one and same thing, “no upcoming episodes”.
That’s so weird. The only time I have something like that happen is when I already an episode with that season number and episode number. I have been collecting episodes of actresses I’m a fan of, mostly from reruns. I have a wishlist set up on my Tivo that tips me off when there are upcoming episodes. Sometime I forget to check and see if I already have that episode and I’ll get frustrated that it lets me schedule that episode been then it doesn’t show up in upcoming. Then I’ll check and see that I already have it and D’oh!
I know it a new episode upcoming, but could you possibly have a mis-named episode that is blocking the upcoming recording?
Just realized the Plex program guide has the wrong season and episode number. We are in season 22 and my Plex guide says 20, any thoughts?
Both TVDB & TMDB agree that the latest season is 22. I also looked on epguides.com and they say the latest is s21. I looked on Fox and they show the latest season is s20.
Were there some seasons that got split into two?
ok, I see what’s going on. What a pain. I’ve had a couple shows with similar quirks.
Do you always compress the file and replace it? You probably have it set to store the record in TV Shows. What if you created a second tv library, say called OTA. Update the schedule to store the recording in the OTA library. Then when compress it, move it the TV Shows library with the correct season & episode info. I think that will work.
So all of my recorded tv goes to a folder called “TV” and when I compress the video I move it to “TVAV1” (AV1Codec). PLEX sees my TV shows in both TV and TVAV1 so it sees S20E01 as already there and does not record. I think the only way to fix this is to rename season 20 episodes to something else or hide season 20 until the new season 20 is over. I wish there was a way to force PLEX to record duplicates then I could rename properly. Maybe I just need to setup a separate server for that show!
Did you have any luck in recording this weeks episode?
I recorded it. I didn’t see it in my TV shows lib. If I lick on the guide, it takes me to my testing library, if I look in my TV Shows library, there is the new show. Seems like Plex kind of merges them.
The guide has the incorrect season making PLEX think I already have the episode. I renumbered S20 episodes by adding a 1 in front of the episode S20E02 is now S20E102. Since there was no E102 PLEX recorded the episode last night and I can renumber accordingly. I hope FOX gets the numbering down right.
