So just by coincidence i moved my desktop to a separate vlan and certain videos would not play. I could skip ahead and it would play, but no sound would happen.
I thought it was my network, but pfsense was blocking nothing, so i spent several hours diagnosing. ALL other devices worked fine, transcoding, all formats, everything. I decided (should’ve done this to begin with) to boot the desktop into linux and it worked fine (snap plex-desktop), so i knew it was a windows issue.
Uninstall, reinstall Plex for windows, same thing, but noticed it hadn’t asked me to login as all the settings were the same. I then removed the folder “/users/zemerdon/local/plex” and voila, settings reset, everything worked again.
Lesson learn, simple solution.
