I’ve taken a short video on my iPhone that shows you what the login sequence looks like and where things fail. Is there a private email address I can send it to so I don’t have to post it publicly?
What’s really weird is that for a brief moment a message is displayed in the popup that says “You have successfully signed in.” (You can see this in my video.) But then the cursor changes to indicate something is happening and then I get the fail message indicating I did NOT successfully log in.
Todd,
check your PM’s (little green dot in the upper right corner)
Just like toddphi, I’ve been using Firefox with Plex (on my Synology DS918+) for a while and have recently started having the same problem.
I tried Edge (IE based and Chromium) and Chrome - it works fine on all of these.
So I tried using Firefox on my laptop instead (which is running the same version of Firefox - 79.0) - it worked fine on there too!
Going back to Firefox (my main browser), I have tried the following (none of which resolved the issue)
- turning off tracker and script blockers
- adding the various sites to exceptions
- disabling all add-ons
I can’t be bothered to go through the process of uninstalling/reinstalling my main browser - but the issue certainly seems to be specific to Firefox on my main machine.
I don’t launch the Plex app on my NAS drive that often, so I’m happy to use the workaround of using another browser.
Thanks for your post.
My problem logging in using Firefox is still unresolved. Microsoft Edge does not work either so I’m not convinced the problem is with Firefox. I had been using Firefox with PLEX for several years but never had any issues. These login problems started about 6-8 weeks ago. Was there a PLEX update in that timeframe?
If the issue is occurring on multiple browsers on your machine, have tried doing this from another machine?
Attempting this on a laptop is preferable, as accessing from a smartphone can be a bit fiddly.
I’m accessing from a Windows desktop PC. It happens with Firefox and Microsoft Edge.
I can login using my iOS devices with no problems.
Todd,
I’ve received the video. Thank you.
Please grab the Logs for me (all of them) and attach the ZIP.
In PM, please ZIP and attach your Preferences.xml file.
I don’t know what “grab the logs” means. What logs? Where are they?
which version of PMS is installed on the QNAP? (1.20.0 + )
If there is a PlexData share, you’ll have a linkage through FileStation (you need grant yourself permission to see it first in Shared Folders) but it will give you graphical access to the QPKG data area where Plex resides on QNAP.
Once in there, Right-Click Logs and Compress (ZIP) . That ZIP file is perfect.
Please look in the thread above (8d ago). I already sent the logs(Logs.zip). Nothing has changed since then.
Sorry I had forgotten that I’d already sent them when you asked me to “grab the logs”. My bad.
