Webgui page load error

Server Version#:

QNAP TS-453D

Current QNAP Firmware version: 5.0.0.1891

Media Plex Server Version: (from the QNAS App Center) → 1.25.2

Client: Windows10 System

Cannot connect to Plex server from my QNAP App from browser on local network or Plex app (web and otherwise)

I had it set up for 2 months and now I can’t log in.
When I try to connect via the address http://my_ip_address:32400/web the page does not open.
In advance I am reminded that a secure connection (https://) is not supported with this application.
Even if I enter everything manually → http://my_ip_address:32400/web/index.html no connection opens.

When I try https:// my browser goes blank and I have tried 3 different browsers.
I have uninstalled the QuFirewall and there is no antivirus program or VPN running.

What am I doing wrong and can you help me?

If you need more information I will gladly provide it.

Thanks

@Newbie0815

Does it fail to load (respond) as if you went to a dead or nonexistent web page somewhere or is it something else ?

I have an idea what it might be but would like to confirm before proceeding.

Hi,

when I try http://my_IP_adress:32400/web/ the site does not respond.
When I try it with https://my_IP_adress:32400/web/ the error comes: The website is not reachable.

Everything worked before but now I can’t get to the Plex website from my NAS.

I hope you can help me. I have tried everything and reinstalled the application several times on my NAS but nothing works.

I assume the different addresses you’re trying are the LAN IP and WAN IP ?

If the server isn’t running , then both will always fail.

I would like you do the following:

  1. Create a shared folder, named (EXACTLY) PlexData.

  2. Create the shared folder on any volume you want. It’s not going to hold any data. It’s a diagnostic aid.

  3. After creating it, In App Center –

  • Stop Plex,
  • Wait 10 seconds
  • Start Plex
  • Wait 1 minute
  • Stop Plex.
  1. Open FileStation
    – Find the PlexData shared folder and open it.
    – See Plex Media Server and click it.
    – You will now see the internals of your actual Plex server as it exists in App Center.
    – Right-Click “Logs” → Compress (make a ZIP file)
    – When it’s done, Download the ZIP file
    – Attach the ZIP file here please so I can see what happened.

I assume the different addresses you’re trying are the LAN IP and WAN IP ?
//
Yes exactly I tried it with the LAN IP and also with the external IP via my cell phone (which was not in the wifi) I get no access to the website. It looks like a port is not unlocked or the server is not running.
But if I enter the link in the client browser: https://app.plex.tv/desktop then I get to my existing account. And I could install a Plex server through my client, but I don’t want to. The Plex Media Server should run on my NAS.

If the server isn’t running , then both will always fail.
//
I installed the Plex Media Server on my client and added the NAS and followed your steps. Because otherwise I can not get access to Plex and to my NAS.

Open FileStation
– Find the PlexData shared folder and open it.
– See Plex Media Server and click it.
– You will now see the internals of your actual Plex server as it exists in App

//
The folder was empty for me but I got the logs from the program and packed them as a rar.
I hope you can figure out why I just can’t get to the Plex site from my NAS.

I researching QNAP on the forum and I found across this article.

The Local Plex Web App and NAS Devices points apply exactly to me and my problem and it just won’t work. Thus I am at the very beginning and not getting anywhere. :confused:

@Newbie0815

You clicked both Server-Windows and Server-QNAP

You stated you’re using Plex on the QNAP

But you gave me Windows PMS logs?

These don’t help us

On the QNAP, then you Start plex, there are some very basic things it does.
Log files are always created.

The PlexData shared folder always has access to them.

Did you spell the folder exactly as I wrote it? (capital P and capital D)

Okay sorry for my mistake.
I found the needed logs from my NAS and attached them here again.
Sorry I’m still new in the topic and I had to look at first where I find the data on my NAS.

I looked in the logs and I see following errors.

ERROR - HttpServer: Error binding acceptor: Address in use
ERROR - HttpServer: Error opening acceptor on IPv6, falling back to IPv4: Address in use
ERROR - HttpServer: Error binding acceptor: Address in use
ERROR - Error: Unable to set up server: listen: Address in use (N5boost10wrapexceptINS_6system12system_errorEEE)

I think this will be it → Error: Address in use
But how can I change this?

How good are you with the SSH command line ?

The problem is because one of Plex’s modules doesn’t shut down cleanly in all cases.

I’ve since adjusted the scripting to handle it but am waiting for Engineering to put it into a release ( hopefully their next PMS release :crossed_fingers: )

I can either give you a hotfix for plex.sh to manually install until then.
The hotfix is actually the updated plex.sh module itself.

You would upload it to your Public share on the QNAP, unzip it, then (using SSH) copy it from /share/Public to where Plex is installed.

I’ll give you all the commands to type. It’s not difficult.

I finally solved the problem and I have access to the Plex website from my NAS again. I restarted the service of the Plex Media Server via command line and then it finally worked. I hope the problem is solved with a new Plex version. Because if I have to restart my NAS the problem may occur again.

Thank you for your support and the main problem is solved now. :slight_smile:

But I still have two small questions. When I login to my Plex server now I still see the old NAS connection which I can’t delete. Is there anywhere to do this after the fact?

And what advantage does a Plex Pass offer me?

Thanks

  1. Settings - Authorized Devices - Server (dropdown)
    – Find the old server
    – REMOVE button

  2. PlexPass primarily gives you Hardware Transcoding. The full list is here

  1. The start/stop problem will be corrected as soon as Engineering releases the changes I’ve made (which were delayed due to holidays & end-of-year vacations)

Unfortunately, Plex crashed again. :confused:
I have no access to the server again. (see picture)
And I also can’t find a button to remove the old servers. I am very frustrated right now, so I will have to install it all again. :frowning:

Reinstalling won’t fix it.

The problem is PMS is crashing, Because of how it crashed, the start/stop button in App Center isn’t working right.

I have corrected that so it will work in all cases. (I got a bigger hammer)

If I give you a fail safe mechanism, can you do it?

Okay if you have for me this “fail safe mechanism” then always here with it. :wink:

But still I have the problem that I can not delete the old server from the menu. (see picture)

Do you have a workaround for me?

Close the browser window and reopen it.

The server is now removed ( I removed it from Plex.tv for you )

Thanks :slight_smile:

Can I do this myself?
Just in case I have the problem again.

I have same issue with the log reading…

I have tried, installing and uninstalling, upgraded to the very recent version and reset nas to get my admin access again (had forgotten Password) and nothing has worked. I have downloaded a SSH client but not had much luck navigation

@Yeldarb2010

There is a problem with the package.

I’ve found the problem and have submitted the change to Engineering and QA for approval.

I can give you a 1 line patch if you are comfortable enough to run it from the command line.

@Newbie0815

https://app.plex.tv

To remove any servers or devices,

Settings - Authorized Devices (upper left corner) → Server (dropdown)

REMOVE what you want to delete.

Nah I tried to play a bit but would just rather know the issue is realized and a fix is on the way Thanks.
