Plex won't install on my Synology DS218Play

Server Version#:

  1. Couldn’t find the PMS 1.15.4.994 anywhere. Going by posts online, from the Plex server, downloaded Armv8 (x18 series). It seems to be the right one because DSM accepted installation.
  2. However, it does not Run, despite at least two re-downloads and re-installation attempts. Please see attached notification.
  3. Is there a link for PMS 1.15.4.994 that you can direct me to because this later version seems to have bugs that are stopping installation on the DS218Play.

Just one last query: is there a plug-in that enables PLEX to recognize BMDV folders or .m2ts files since my entire movie storage on the Synology NAS comprises my Bluray movie folders?

Thanks, but I might have spoken too soon!
Reopening the Nas after the night’s shutdown, I found that Plex Media Server had mysteriously disappeared from my Synology DS218Play desktop.

Neither was it showing in the Main Menu.

But, it was there as “Installed” in my Package centre.

But, when I press “Run” it fails.

This has happened twice already after morning restart of the NAS.

It requires me, each time, to reinstall Plex as per your instructions and create a Plex Library all over again.

I think I’m about ready to give up on using DS218 as a Media Server attached to my Home Theatre and just go back to using it as a centralised storage device. And then access the movies I need and play them on the big screen - as I’ve been doing - using Beamer.

But, it’d still be interesting to know why this is happening.
