Plex won't stop detecting intros after PMS 1.28.2.6151 update

I’m running Plex server on a Synology DS920+ (DSM 7.1-42661 update 2)
And after installing the latest PSM update (PlexMediaServer-1.28.2.6151-914ddd2b3-x86_64_DSM7.spk) it has been detecting intros without stopping. It does not matter if it’s a show, series or even individual files the detecting intros continues to spin. Any ideas what i might do to fix this?

Can you provide the logs please ?

If it’s a large library, newly created, it will continue to do them until done.

Thanks for identifying that, but where do I change it? I went through the settings options and I can’t find that option.

Two locations.

For the entire server:

  • Settings → Library → Generate intro video markers
  • Choices: Never / As a scheduled task / As a scheduled task and when media is added
  • “As a scheduled task” will run during the server maintenance window configured in Settings → Scheduled Tasks.

You can also enable/disable the capability for each TV show library.

  1. Edit the Library.
  2. Choose Advanced.
  3. Check/uncheck box for “Enable intro detection.”

Correct, but where do Set: GenerateIntroMarkerBehavior=asap ?

asap = “…and when media is added”

prefs?GenerateIntroMarkerBehavior=asap is how it appears in the log files.

Log files are not the friendliest things to read. They’re coded by developers for developers, and not really meant for users.

Thanks, Plex finally finished detecting intros after 5 days of scanning.

I am having the exact same issue, it takes many hours to detect intro for just a few episodes. I don’t think running it during maintainance only is a good solution because obviously something is wrong with the detection, it shouldn’t be taking that long.

I’ve also noticed that when the server restarts it will try detecting intro for the whole library again. The detection will usually run for a whole week.
