Plex won't take the metadata from the files

Hi,

I seem to have an issue with the Plex Media Player and the metadata for my music. I tried a couple of things from the forums but the solutions provided did not work for me.

Here’s the issue: my tracks have metadata added (the properties show that it has an album, a date, genre and so on), yet Plex does not display them. I have tried re-scanning and refreshing the metadata with all the Agent combination, yet nothing worked.

Any help will be appreciated.

I am using the latest version of Plex Media Player on all my devices and the issue can be easily seen here:

File names and their organization into folders is also important.

Most important: if you first add these files into Plex, and then change or add metadata to them, you have to perform the Plex Dance
(but with music you can omit step 4)

Little tip: If you have lots of bootlegs etc. you want to bring your embedded metatags into order first. Then you need to have the Local Media Assets agent in top position. I wouldn’t trust last.fm to fetch correct info about bootlegs and special editions of albums, like those recent expanded re-releases of Zappa albums. Put as much info into the meta tags as possible.
