Plex Xbox 360 Issue

Same for me, rebooted and set all port forwarding up etc. I am a IT Engineer and know my way around this stuff. Still everything (android, windows) else I use inside and outside network goes fine, just not XBox 360

EDIT: Logging out of and back into the app sorted it for me.

I was actually able to connect by rebooting the XBox 360, logging out, and logging by password, not PIN.

I have the same problem, port is forwarded, I can access the server through the android app on a 4g connection (so completely seperate network) but Xbox app doesn't find the server. It just says it's not available.

I had the same problems as all here.. I changed from login with PIN to login with password and it is working for me now on the 360. Hope that helps others. On the xbox in the plex app hit the blue button and choose the server and then choose logout.. from there you can choose login with pin or username.

I double checked port 32400 on my server and my router and it's all working fine. Roku has no trouble connecting, the web interface works, and the version is plexmediaserver_0.9.11.1.678. I still get the message "There was an error communicating with your Plex Media Server..." I've rebooted the XBox (360) and have a Gold account. Any ideas? 

Are you able to access your Plex server outside your lan using public_ip:32400/web ?

Ok so for those of you still having trouble,  I have found a solution to my issue where the sever shows as unavailable in the XBOX360 plex app but works everywhere else.. The Plex app from the XBOX360 initially accesses the plex server by external Ip. In my case I was using a buffalo router with DDWRT firmware on it.. By default on my router NAT loopback is disabled.  So an easy test to see if you are having the same issue as I was is from your local lan that the plex server is on try to access you plex server via your external ip.. So goto http://mypublicip:32400/web.   If this loads for you then NAT loopback is working.. if it does not you will need to enable NAT loopback to fix this issue. In my case the page would not display until I enabled nat loopback .  This assumes that you have all the propper port forwarding in place and the port you are forwarding is 32400.. I now can see my local sever after enableing NAT Loop Back. Hope this helps others.

This fix for the dd-wrt firmware solved my issue.

I was able to solve this by logging out (not just deleting the application) and then signing in with my username and password. Do not use a pin here.

Interestingly enough, the server and the device are on the same subnet, I and allowed access to 192.168.0.0/16 so I don't know why it required me to sign in at all.

that's great for those running DD-WRT but that's a work around to an app issue. my router does not support DD-WRT nor does in have the anywhere to enable loopback. all other apps work fine only problem with xbox

For those of you that have gotten it working, is it worth it? By that I mean is the 360 client better than say the Roku version? I probably won't have the time to try to fix mine for a day or two since I have a lot of  random errands to take care of this weekend. The Roku uses so little power I'd likely stay with that unless the 360 version had some sweet new features. 

My X360 works fine with Plex, and since the only extender I have is the xbox then yes it is worth it ...to me.

has anyone been able to get the plex app to work on xbox 360 that is not running ww-drt and their router doesn't support IP nat loopback.

mine plays but skips for 2 mins then I get the message cant find server. I can run plex fine on all other devices (android and tv) I have xbox hard wired and on same network. I took my server to a remote location  the has 50X50 meg circuit and plugged it up and as long as the server is remote it runs fine. so its not the server. im on a DSL connection with 7meg down but the uplink is only 800K. so the problem I think is its trying to send the video out to someplace on my 800k uplink then back. people should not have to buy addition equipment to support the app. the app should be looking for a local server 

Same problem here on xbox 360. Getting Server not available. Server version 0.9.10.2 or higher required. Am running 0.9.11.1.678-c48ffd2 on ubuntu linux 64bit. All other plex clients are working. Have reinstalled both the server and the client. Deleted all plex files from 360 and reinstalled ect...

Having the same issue, PLEX on 360 is saying 'Server Not Available'

Plex Server is running on unRaid 5.0.6

Plex Server running is v0.9.11.1.678-c48ffd2

Router is pfSense 2.1.5

The Plex Server and XBOX 360 are on the same LAN

I log into the the plex server goto 'Settings' then 'Devises' and it shows a "Plex for XBOX 360" 1.0.0.0, see attached file

Have cycled power, still no go.

So any idea's? This feature is sole reason i bought the PLEX Pass.

Access within the local network should be trouble free - it is trouble free for other clients. So what is special about the xbox?

I would just like to add a tip for some people...I was getting the error this plex media server is out of date please upgrade to .9.10.3 when I already had a newer version then this. I thought it was something going on within my router and it turned out to be I had not linked my account in the settings section of my media manager. If you go to settings and click on Server then Connect you can login with your credentials and in my case the error went away. Good luck Plex is awesome for doing this!

I'm having the same problem on 2 Xbox360s.  My router (Netgear C6300) does not support NAT loopback.  Signing in with my login/password instead of PIN didn't have any effect.

i'm having the same issue. I use openwrt on my router. The upnp Service adds the correct DNAT rule for it:

DNAT       tcp  --  0.0.0.0/0            0.0.0.0/0            tcp dpt:12586 to:192.168.1.3:32400

It doesn't work with static port too. The dd-wrt fix doesn't fix it in openwrt. Is there somebody with any solution for openwrt?

I have 3 xbox's and they all work great. Setup the NAT on port 32400 external to internal on same. THen signing to plex with username and not pin. I think that will work for most people you might need to restart your xbox after doing the NAT. Double check the connect screen under the server settings in you website and if you get the green ticks should be working.
