Plexamp and Various Artists

So, with Plexamp being on the road to ultimate awesomeness (once chromecast is sorted). Will the fine people at Plex look at using track tagging instead of just album and artist. I am assuming most music users tag their music in some form or other, so would have tracks tagged with artist and genre.
This would be especially useful when using the awesome related tracks feature, at the moment tracks on various artist albums have no related tracks.
Just wondering out loud
Could Plexamp be the push music on Plex needs?..I feel cautiously optimistic

we’re working on it

we do get some metadata per-track (moods, e.g.); it’s possible we’re not reading track genres from tags, anything else specifically you’re looking for?

clearly.

In an ideal world and I stress that I have no idea how much hard work these things take, so I am asking with total ignorance haha
But, would it be possible so that…
When showing an artist page it also shows the tracks that they are on from Various Artist albums?
Could Plex use the Artist Tag instead of Album Artist tag? Is that a big job?

Again, I would like to say how much I am loving Plexamp  and I have no idea the amount of work goes into it other than a lot!

Also, are you sure you get moods on a per track basis? When looking at Plexamp it only shows album moods…also when looking at the data on my server there is no where to edit track moods.
I think currently on Artist and Album moods are taken into account when creating mood radios, track would be awesome though

I use PlexAmp almost daily. But until the Plex programmers recognize the basic flaw that genre, mood, style and even track artist do not always apply to all tracks on an album, no app can be the “push” that music on Plex needs.

Your examples with Various Artists albums are a perfect example.

I have the “Forrest Gump” soundtrack album. Many of the tracks have “moods” associated with them, each different than the other tracks. But all of the moods are applied to the whole album, (71 moods, if my count is right)

It has to be obvious that all thirty-two of those tracks cannot possibly fit it into all of those categories. The same for genre - I have the genre tags set in the embedded metadata for each track, put Plex applies all of the genres to the album, and only uses the amalgamated genre tags for any “radios” or playlists. No plex app (that I’m aware of) can create a playlist or radio using track genre. You can’t edit or even see the genre of a track in any app.

I would imagine it’s a lot of work to actually use the track info, rather than the album info, but that’s when Plex music becomes really and truly great.

Where we have the metadata for them, yes.

Hmm, I clicked on the same song in my server and got no moods. Wonder why mine is different?
I am using embedded tags, does that make a difference?

Ok Ignore previous comment, I have checked a different album and I do have some track moods.
But when looking on Plexamp Mood Radio, it says browse albums…not browse tracks. Surely not all tracks on an album will have the same mood?
Do they?

Sometimes. The metadata varies. But we don’t have any Plexamp display of track moods, and the server-driven radios use albums.

Do you think the server would ever change to incorporate track data as well as all the other awesome stuff it does?

I would certainly like to see the radios incorporate the track data where available. It will make the radios that much more accurate.

Yeah we’d definitely like to improve the track metadata; track moods are a fairly recent addition.

That would be excellent, Plex is my music server and to have the Plex server access as much of my music data as possible to provide my music in more interesting, matched and detailed way would be fantastic.
Again, keep up the good work
PS Still loving Plexamp, been playing for a few weeks now and it is a joy
