Plexamp Android User Manual?

Really struggling with understanding how to use this new app.
It seems so confusing and complicated compared to the proper Plex app.
Is there a user guide any where?
In the mean time, can anyone tell me how to turn on the visulizers ?

No official support for plexamp.
There will be some kind of a FAQ later.

Some of the visualizers don’t work on all phones, so change them until you find one or a few which do work for you.
Tap/click on the cover art once.
If you only get a grey rectangle, try swiping sideways over this rectangle. (this is supposed to switch over to the next visualizer)
Wait a few seconds between each attempt.

And whatever you do, never enable high-quality visualizers in the preferences unless you are on a desktop computer.

Thank you. I didn’t get anything when I clicked the album art, no rectangle or anthing at all.
However swiping the blank space worked
If you can only use the ‘High Qulaity’ option on PC’s I wonder why they built it in into the Android app at all?
I am not suprised there is no official support for this product - it seems such a confusing mess that seems to copy the real Plex app but leaving out all the good parts.
Maybe when it’s finished it will be usable.

Thanks for your help. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think you are missing what it wants to do.
Maybe it’s getting clearer when the FAQ is done.

Try this for a start:
If the player is open, tap on the downward chevron at the bottom to minimize it.
Now tap on the cogwheel icon bottom-right to open the settings.
Tap on ‘Source’ and make sure your primary music library is selected.
(If you have hidden your music library by disabling the checkbox ‘include in Dashboard’ in the preferences of the library, reverse that action now.)

Now tap on the Home icon at the bottom-left of Plexamp.
Now scroll a bit upwards until you see the ‘Stations’.
Tap on ‘Library Radio’.

If you know that already and want something more specific, try this:
tap on the magnifiying glass icon at the bottom (again with the player minmized).
put a part of the name of an artist into the search field
tap on the artist when it appears as a search result underneath
now tap on the artist radio icon grafik

You may experiment further with some of the other ‘Stations’
Try Style, Mood, or Decade radio.

Did you notice a pattern here? Basically, Plexamp is mainly about leaving the selection of the particular tracks to play up to Plex, but only give it some rough instructions about the stylistic direction.

Right - completely the opposite of how I listen to music!
I tend to browse my collection until I see something that I fancy listening to. Often I don’t know what I fancy until I see the album name to remind me, so the search feature wouldn’t help in this circumstance.
I tried your suggestion about the Library Radio and it just played a random selection of tracks, so tried the mood radio option and when I select one of the suggestion (eg Eurovision) I just get a circle going round and round in the middle of the screen.

Other odd things - I can’t see how to cast the music to my home audio system, and
I am also very confused as to why the download dialogue is talking about buying vehicles.

But I obviously got the wrong idea about the app - I thought it was designed as a replacement music app to replace the normal Plex app, but as you say it’s not - its just a random jukebox.

Again thankyou for your help.

Currently not possbile, unfortunately.

No, definitely not. It is mainly about a different approach to selecting music.
